About Bodrum

In Bodrum, just 25 minutes drive from the holiday apartments, holiday makers can stroll through cobbled alleyways of the bazaar market area to the beautiful and colourful harbour with lively yacht club to experience the sea front cafés and wonderful restaurants. Within the centre of Bodrum the Oasis Shopping Centre can be found with its plentiful shops selling just about everything, a cinema and playground. At night a wide range of bars stay open to the early hours and there are restaurants, discos and the Mediterranean's most impressive open-air nightclub, the Halikarnas, with its spectacular location and world class entertainment and shows. The Marina Yacht Club has live music most nights, and Club Bodrum, a nightclub on a catamaran, Ora Bar, Helva Bar and lots more offer great nightlife.

For those who prefer a more traditional feel, stop off at one of the Turkish fishing villages on the way.

Vita Park Golf Course, Bodrum
Bodrum's first championship golf course, Vita Park, is 5 minutes drive away (car, not tee shot unless you are Tiger Woods!) You can enjoy a round on the Milas-71, Pay & Play course. It hugs the lakeside and hills providing natural variation and some beautifully sculptured holes. The club house, overlooking the lake, is also a lovely setting for evening drinks and a meal.

Bodrum's famous medieval castle was the last crusader castle to fall to the Ottoman Turks in the 16th century. It houses a remarkable museum with exhibits of underwater archaeology, including artifacts from several ships wrecked thousands of years ago. The castle walls are studded with 249 coats of arms and within the castle there is an inner garden with nearly every plant and tree of the Mediterranean region including the rare Mandrake.


Ephesus, TurkeyEphesus
Two-and-a-half hours drive to the north of Bodrum is Ephesus, a great ancient Greek city and one of the best preserved archaeological sites in the world. Visitors can walk on the marbled streets and wander through history to view the great theatre with a capacity to seat 25,000 people, the library, roman toilets, brothel and baths, the ruins of the Church of the Virgin Mary, the remains of the Harbour Gymnasium, a group of wonderfully restored houses with frescoed walls and mosaic floors and more.


Pamukkale, TurkeyPamukkale
Three hours drive from Bodrum is Pamukkale, meaning "Cotton Castle", where visitors can find one of nature's most amazing sights. Hot mineral waters flowing down the mountain of Pamukkale have solidified to form fantastic snowy white stalactites, terraced slopes of circular basins of water and frozen waterfalls. It is one of the world's finest examples of elaborate calcium formation. At the top of the white terraces are the remains of the ancient city Hierapolis meaning "Sacred City", now a World Heritage Site, with its thermal sacred pool and museum.

Bitez
A short minibus (dolmus) ride from Bodrum is the calm village of Bitez, set amongst mountains and mandarin gardens, with peaceful sandy beaches that are great for children and ideal for paddling. It is a well-known windsurfing spot and offers water sports of all kinds as well as bars, cafes, market stalls and shops. There is a flea market every first Sunday of the month in Bitez.


Gumusluk
The tranquil fishing village of Gumusluk set within a conservation area is one of the oldest settlements on the Bodrum peninsula and stands on the site of the ancient city of Myndus, parts of which slid into the sea during an earthquake many years ago. Some of Myndos ruins can still be seen today by snorkeling in the bay. Waterfront restaurants serve excellent fresh fish and the Gumuscafe in the Gumusluk Bay offers high quality food, fine wines, soft jazz music and fabulous scenery. The westerly side of Gumusluk provides some spectacular sunsets.


Turgutreis
Turgutreis is a bustling town with lovely beaches, waterfront restaurants, shops, a marina and a great market each Saturday offering designer goods at fabulous prices, as well as textiles, food, etc. At night there are many bars and cafes in which to relax and enjoy the sunsets for which Turgutreis is famous.


Yalikavak
Yalikavak is a gorgeous fishing village with beaches, restaurants, wonderful shops and a clothes and food market each Thursday. Yalikavak is renown for its superb sunsets, unspoilt shoreline and clean sea. The Port Bodrum Yalikavak marina offers sailing lessons for all ages and fun events.


Milas
Milas is an ancient Carian town with ancient ruins, historic houses known for its fine carpets made from pure wool and coloured with natural plant and root dyes. Weavers can be seen at work in the town today.


Gumbet
Just 30 minutes drive away from our holiday apartments is the lively town of Gumbet. Holiday makers can enjoy its long, curving beach, water skiing, parasailing and windsurfing. Its shopping centre, markets, restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets cater for english and international tastes. Its bars, nightclub and discos provide the opportunity to party until dawn.
